Thai Eco Solutions successfully organized a World Cleanup Day event in the beautiful mountain village of Ban Khun Chang Khian on the morning of the 21st September, 2019.  The event was sponsored by Lanna Language School, Oasis Spa and Trailhead Thailand and supported by Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, Thai Together Goal, Issara 4×4 and Ban Khun Chang Khian villagers.

Thai Eco Solutions invited volunteers to participate in the event via their Facebook page, and staff from the sponsors also joined in the efforts.  In total, approximately 100 people joined to help rid the village of trash.  Transportation to the village was kindly provided by Thai Together Goal and Issara 4×4 and lunch in eco-friendly banana leaf wrapping was provided by Thai Eco Solutions.  As a memento of the occasion, each participant received a bamboo straw, with donations of bamboo straws also being donated to local coffee shops by Thai Eco Solutions.  Rubbish bags and gloves were also provided by Thai Eco Solutions for all volunteers.

World Cleanup Day 2019

After a quick group photo at the village viewpoint, volunteers got to work walking around the village picking up any garbage lying around.  Waste disposal is somewhat of an issue in the village and so it didn’t take long to fill the bags with trash but within 3 hours the village was looking a lot better with 2 truckloads of garbage collected.

Suwanus Yibpikul, Founder and CEO of Thai Eco Solutions was delighted with the outcome of the event saying, “It was fantastic to see so many volunteers from all walks of life join us to help rid Ban Khun Chang Khian of garbage.  The village welcomes visitors from all over the world and it’s important to maintain the beauty of the area”.  Suwanus went on to say “Without the financial support of the sponsors, as well as help from volunteers, the kind permission and support of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and the village itself, the event would not have been possible”.

K.Pakin Ployphicha, Managing Director of the Oasis Spa (Thailand) and a sponsor of the event said “The issue of garbage can be solved by each of us as individuals, whether it be on our own or through events such as World Cleanup day.  We all have a responsibility to help the environment and just by reducing plastic use, or using garbage bins, a small change can be made by everyone”.

Thai Eco Solutions hopes to continue working with the National Park and village to improve waste disposal and reduce plastic consumption to decrease the environmental impact in this beautiful region of Chiang Mai.
